Principal Deputy Organization

The Office of the Principal Deputy provides leadership and coordination on R&D and organizational management initiatives important to the Office of Science and the Department through the following offices:

• Office of Engineering and Technology
  • Office of Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer(SBIR/STTR) Programs - The Office of Science manages these programs for the entire Department
  • The Office of Accelerator R&D and Production
  • The Office of Isotope R&D and Production
• Office of Project Assessment
• Office of Scientific Workforce Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
• Office of Strategic Planning & Interagency Coordination
• Office of International Science & Technology Cooperation and Trusted Research
• Office of Crosscutting and Special Initiatives

The Office of the Principal Deputy Director also includes the following organizations:

• The Office of Budget manages the budget formulation and execution processes on behalf of the Director and the Office of Science’s Senior Manager and ensures that financial management is applied using proper accounting controls and principles.
• The Office of Management supports planning and administration of organizational resources and staffing across the Office of Science.
