Budget Execution and Formulation Analysis Support Tool (BEFAST)

The Budget Execution and Formulation Analysis Support Tool (BEFAST) is a new and innovative cloud-based system in the Office of Science’s (SC) Office of Budget (OB).  BEFAST helps SC manage the budget formulation and execution process—seamlessly incorporating financial and contextual inputs from nearly 200 users across SC’s many program offices into standardized reports and tables for OMB and Congressional budget submissions. It dynamically links all SC budget formulation and execution data/processes and allows users to run numerous budget scenarios. Using BEFAST, SC standardizes and increases operational efficiency, improves data accessibility and transparency, and mitigates cybersecurity risks.
